Nat was born and raised in New Orleans. He graduated with honors from Tulane University Law School, where he served on the Moot Court Board and was a member of the Order of the Coif. After his graduation, Nat worked at a top defense firm before joining his father's firm in 1984.

Nat learned so much about life and the law from his late father, State Senator Nat G. Kiefer, who was both a successful trial attorney and dedicated public servant. He carries on the family tradition with his brother, Kris, and his daughter, Megan, with whom he is proud to provide clients with excellent and highly competent legal representation.
